This is the green form of the native totara.
Attractive specimen and hege. Mature trees produce very durable timber. Trees are either male or female with females having red berries in the autumn that attract birds. The leaves are small and prickly but not spiney, which makes them unattractive to sheep and rabbits once established THe nectar in the spring attacts bees
Will grow in a wide range of sites including very exposed and partially shaded. If planting as a hedge plant 1 metre apart
Frost tender when young but once established are hardy and tolerate the wind
