Ribbonwood (Manatu) is a medium sized, wind resistant, native spreading tree.
It is a good substitute for Silver birch but without the silver bark. It has cream flowers on separate male and female trees.
Small, divaricating, juvenile foliage is replaced by larger birch-like adult foliage. Juvenile foliage can be maintained for a dense trimmed hedge.
Fast-growing even on dry exposed sites. Good for shelter or specimen. Deciduous. Hardy. grows to 5m by 2m
