Known by several common names, including Chilean guava and  Tazziberry . In New Zealand it is being sold and marketed as the ‘NZ Cranberry’. The small fruit that follow the small white flowers have a taste of a combination of strawberry, pineapple and apple. These berries are favoured by both children and dogs and no doubt birds as well

The plant is a native to Chile and is a small evergreen shrub with small leathery leaves. It grows to a size of about 1.7 m high and 1.5 m wide It can be grown as a hedge trim after fruiting to desired height or can be trained as a small single stem standard The stems are quite brittle so easily damaged by animals

It will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions although not happy in coastal areas where there is salt spray. Once established the plants do not mind drought conditions but water during establishment A good thick mulch/compost helps keep roots moist

These are in 5 cm pots
